Some of the best men that I’ve known have been offenders,
They broke the law and now they’re doin’ time.
Though their hearts had gone astray, now they’ve found a better way.
They’ve repented, now they’re sorry for their crimes.

Some of the worst men that I’ve known have been offenders,
They broke the law and now they’re doin’ time.
But their hearts are cold as ice, they’re really not that nice.
They’ve been apprehended , but they’re not sorry for their crimes.

Well, two men hung on crosses beside Jesus one day;
One man asked for mercy, the other turned away.
The Lord was there for both of them, but only one could see
The love of God being poured out beside him on a tree.

I’ve never met a man God didn’t love;
There is no limit to His grace from above.
From the heart, warm and tender, to the vilest offender,
I’ve never met a man God didn’t love.

Now in God’s eyes, every one of us is an offender;
We broke His law and now it’s just a matter of time
‘Til we stand before His throne, the truth will all be known;
We’re all sinners… there must be justice for our crimes.

You see, Jesus died for each of us, there are no exceptions;
The truth of it is that none of us could pass a close inspection.
