A Man From Galilee

This is the story about a man from Galilee
The things he said and did and what he’s done for me
--- verse1 ---
I heard about a man from Galilee
They say he is God’s Son but what is that to me
My life is mine to live
You know I don’t need no advice
If you tell me I need Jesus, well you’d better think it twice
He’s not the boss of me
I couldn’t possibly
Care less about a nobody from Galilee

But I kept hearing about him like he couldn’t be ignored
And then one day
--- verse2 ---
I heard him for myself
He was preaching on a hill
He said I was a sinner and I’d surely go to hell
I thought “my life, it ain’t that bad and I don’t need his assistance
But his words stuck in my craw and they chipped at my resistance
So I said to myself
He’s not the boss of me
I couldn’t possibly
Need to listen to a preacher man from Galilee

I said “Oh no”, I said “Oh no”
You can’t make me, I won’t go
I said “Oh no”
He’s not the boss of me
And I won’t bow my knee
To a self proclaimed Messiah man from Galilee

To my delight, It wasn’t long until this big mouth preacher man got himself into a real doozie of a mess

Well they dragged him in to Pilate and they said that he should die
Even though I didn’t care I couldn’t help but wonder why
He offered no resistance and he opened not his mouth
As they hung him on a cross and his life was snuffed out
I shook my head and I said
He’s not the boss of me
He couldn’t possibly
Be the Savior that he said he was from Galilee

I said “Oh no”, I said “No, no, no”
You can’t make me, I won’t go
I said “Oh no”
He’s not the boss of me
And I won’t bow my knee
To this over rated charlatan from Galilee

I was glad that he was dead. He won’t bother me again
But something down inside me said to leave my life of sin.
Then I remembered something fantastic that he had promised
Something that would soon change everything…

He said that if they killed him he would rise up from the dead
And if I’d put my trust in him, he’d do just what he said
To forgive me of my sins and give me a brand new life
When I saw the tomb was empty, then I knew that he was right
I made a decision that day…
Now he’s the boss of me
And I will bow my knee
To the resurrected preacher man from Galilee

Jesus rose up from the dead!
I said “Oh yeah!”
